British Airways has suffered a major computer failure this morning with travellers stuck in lengthy queues at airports across the U.K.

There has been a global system outage currently affecting BA airport systems and reservation systems.  Check in times at the airport are being restricted to 3 hours before departure for longhaul flights and 2 hours for shorthaul flights.  A number of BA flights have also been cancelled.   

A British Airways spokesman said: "We are experiencing some systems problems this morning which are affecting check-in and flight departures.  We ask passengers to check ba.com and manage my booking for the latest flight information and allow extra time at the airport."
